William Eugene Knauer, 74, of Terre Haute, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at his home. He was born on February 16, 1951, in Terre Haute, to Eugene Allen and Dorothy Rose Knauer.
William is survived by his wife, Lisa Garnett Knauer; daughter, Nicole Knauer; brothers, Jim Knauer (Jill), John Knauer, David Knauer, Michael Knauer (Bobbie), and Richard Knauer (Maria); mother-in-law, Geraldine Garnett; sister-in-law, Susie Barter; brothers-in-law, Tim Garnett (Cindy) and Jim Garnett; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Patricia Knauer; step-brothers, John Stout, Kevin Stout, and David Stout; father-in-law, William Garnett; nieces, Amanda Barter and Stacey Knauer; and a nephew, Justin Knauer.
William attended Kemper Military Academy and Gerstmeyer Tech High School. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. He owned and operated the KFC on Wabash for many years. William was an active member of several organizations in the Wabash Valley. He was Past Master of Social Lodge 86, Past Thrice Potent Master of Scottish Rite, Past Potentate of Zorah Shrine, a 33rd Degree Mason, and a member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 45. He enjoyed relaxing by reading and watching sci-fi shows. William will be forever missed.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 18 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home. Masonic Rites by Social Lodge 86 will begin at 7 p.m. with Rites by the 33rd Degree to follow. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 19 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home with Deacon Steve Gretencord officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
