Steven D. Hudson

Steven D. Hudson, 70, of Marshall, IL and formerly of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 18, 2025, surrounded by his wife and daughter in the home that he helped build. He was born on August 24, 1955, in Terre Haute, to Don and Almeda (Boyll) Hudson.

Steve is survived by his wife of 42 years, Holly (Elsey) Hudson; daughter, Jenna Hudson of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Brenda Farley of Indianapolis and Barb Presnell of Terre Haute; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Born and raised in Terre Haute, Steve was a graduate of Terre Haute South High School. What began as an apprenticeship at the local gas company of Terre Haute, turned into a 40-year career as an operator and pipefitter. Steve was a strong union worker whose passion for his union and fellow workers kept him on the forefront of ensuring that due process and workers’ rights were protected. He served on the grievance board and was part of the bargaining team during several contract negotiations.

Friends and family were important to Steve, and he would always lend a hand to help build or fix something. He could work on anything from a car to a home and was often found tinkering in his garage. Steve enjoyed being busy and was always up for a project, a trait he inherited from growing up near his large, extended family. In his downtime, he enjoyed watching football and basketball. Steve will forever be remembered for his unwavering kindness, willingness to help, and his steadfast love for his wife and daughter.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to: Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospice, 700 W. Lincoln Ave., Suite 100, Charleston, IL 61920 or online at https://wl.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E358496&id=2
