Sara "Sally" J. Garthwaite

Sara “Sally” J. Garthwaite, 102, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026 in her residence. She was born September 20, 1923 in DuBois, PA to Porter Snyder and Hazel Plunkett Snyder.

Survivors include her grandsons, James Garthwaite (Bekki) and David Garthwaite (Nikki); and her great grandchildren, Nick, Spencer, Gracelyn, and Brinlee. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Garthwaite; son, Gary Garthwaite; her parents; brothers, Franklin Snyder and Eugene Snyder; and sister, Gladys Miller.

Sally was a retired customer service representative for First Financial Bank.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, April 6, 2026 in Highland Lawn Cemetery with Reverend Chris Rufener officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Indiana State University Art Department. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. There will be no visitation.
