Ronald Alan Smith

Ronald Alan Smith, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, August 3, 2026. He was born on September 4, 1942, in Crestline, Ohio, to Paul Smith and Maxine Alexander Smith Hubble. He married Rebecca Sue Drinkard on July 3, 1971.

Ron is survived by his only son, Matthew Alan Smith and wife, Dawn of Terre Haute; granddaughters, Anna Smith and Heather Smith Costa and her husband, Steven Costa; a sister, Caroline Yochem of Crestline, Ohio; three stepbrothers; and grand dogs, Dreago and Casper.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Becky Smith; and his beloved little dog, Luna.

Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Army, retiring from the Army Reserves after 22 years of service. He worked and retired from American Latex in Sullivan. Not one to let grass grow under his feet, Ron went to work at Ivy Hill, retiring after 30 years. Ron was a member of Krietenstein American Legion Post 104.

He enjoyed fishing and going to car shows. Ron enjoyed Saturday breakfast with family, meeting his former coworkers for breakfast on Tuesday mornings and going to the legion for a beer and good conversations. Ron was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, good neighbor and friend.
