Robert D. Overpeck, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care, with his loving family by his side. He was born on February 21, 1944, in Terre Haute, to Doyne and Marjorie Ann (Hookey) Overpeck.
Bob is survived by his wife, Charlene Overpeck; sons, Brent Overpeck (Melissa) and Steven Overpeck (Haidee); four grandchildren, Emma, Jordyn, Bradley, and Lauren; a brother, William Overpeck (Jean); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who always believed in family above all else. He was married to the love of his life, Charlene (Wenzel) Overpeck for 57 years. The two met in kindergarten and had known each other for 75 years at the time of his passing. Family meant everything to Bob. Many of his favorite memories were of family gatherings and vacation travels with his wife, two sons, and their families. He cherished the time he spent with his kids and grandkids.
Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He worked at AT&T for over 35 years. At the time of his retirement in 1998, he was a level 3 district manager.
The Overpeck family would like to send their heartfelt gratitude to Heart-to-Heart Hospice, and especially nurse Renee Hart, for their unwavering care, love, and support during Bob's final weeks.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Swan officiating. Bob will be laid to rest with military honors in Highland Lawn Cemetery.
