Peggy Lee (Jackson) Myers, known lovingly as “Nana”, passed away April 8, 2026, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family’s love. She was 79. Peggy was born February 23, 1947, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Jesse Robert Jackson and Mary Marie (Jackson) Jackson. She was a lifelong resident of Riley. Peggy was a 1965 graduate of Gerstmeyer High School and a 1969 graduate of Indiana State University College of Nursing. Peggy married Fred R. Myers on May 16, 1970, in Riley Methodist Church. She was a registered nurse at Union Hospital from 1969 to 1975. She then worked at Indiana State University School of Nursing for 36 years, retiring in 2011 as the Learning Resource Center Director. Peggy was a charter member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing. After retirement, she spent almost every day volunteering in her daughter’s first grade class at Fuqua Elementary. She was a long-standing member of Maryland Community Church.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister Linda Sue Fisher of Indianapolis. She is survived by her loving daughter and best friend Kelly R. McFarland and caring son-in-law Matthew McFarland of Terre Haute. She is also survived by her grandchildren Carlee Carlisle (Connor) and Jackon McFarland, both of Terre Haute, as well as her precious great-grandson Tate Carlisle, who lit up her world. Also surviving are two nieces, Ann Broviak and her children Megan and Micheal of Noblesville and Susan Averitt, husband Jason and their children Sam and Katie all of Indianapolis. Peggy loved her family dearly and her grandchildren were her life. She was always present and never missed any of their activities or sporting events. Peggy will be missed by many and always remembered for her generosity, sweet spirit and kindness.
Visitation will be April 14, 2026, from 11:00 to 1:00 at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home in Terre Haute with funeral service at 1:00. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Hospice of the Wabash Valley in appreciation of the wonderful kind nurses who cared for Nana. The family would like to thank her sweet caregivers as well as the staff at The Commons at Honey Creek.
