Patsy Jewel Reese Moore Alanis, 89, passed away January 28 at Union Hospital. She was born on January 4, 1937, to Joseph Pascal Reese and Robbie Jewel Attaway Reese in Logansport, Louisiana. At age 6 she found her lifelong passion for music and began piano lessons. She was in the Logansport High School marching band playing the trombone, French horn, clarinet, and coronet. She pursued a music degree at Baylor University. She was the choir director and the pianist for several churches. In her later years she enjoyed playing the piano in nursing homes. She taught piano lessons throughout her life. She also had a passion for teaching reading. She tutored many students teaching them to read and/or improving their reading skills. One of her accomplishments was being the head of the Arkansas Literary Council. Another passion was her faith. She gave her life to Christ at age 9 and spent most of her life leading Bible studies and talking about our Lord.
Patsy said her proudest achievement was being a mother. She is survived by her children Iris (John) Welp, Gene Douglas Moore, Jr, Mary Ann Hooten, Rebecca (Dean) Doti, and Michael Reese Alanis. She was preceded in death by two sons, William Thomas Moore and Stephen Andrew Moore and son-in-law, Michael Hooten and daughter-in-law Linda Moore. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Patsy’s wish was to be cremated. No services will be held at this time.
