Patricia A. Newby

Patricia A. Newby, 93, of Terre Haute passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026 in the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. She was born November 5, 1932 in Terre Haute to Claude E. Ripple and Helen C. Cullen Ripple.

Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Newby; daughter Katherine Newby (James A. Miller); and nieces and nephews, Keith, Cheryl, Bonnie, Terri, Larry, MaryAnn, and Barbara Lynn. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pat was a retired teacher from Davis Park Elementary School. She was very involved in school activities and her daughter’s life. Pat was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority where she won the Marge Newlin Award, and a board member of A.L.L. She was a kind and caring Girl Scout leader and was a wonderful example for giving service to others. Pat loved to horse camp with Kathy and Jim. She enjoyed OLLI, traveling and dancing with her husband. Pat was an avid reader and loved to play cards.

Private Graveside funeral services will be conducted in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street.
