Mary Helen McCombs

Mary Helen McCombs, age 105, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on August 21, 2026. Born September 24, 1920, in Milford, Indiana. She was the daughter of James Arthur Stuckman and Anna Pearl Strode Stuckman. She married Paul E. McCombs in 1940 and together they parented and raised three sons: Michael (Jeanne) of Fountain Hills, AZ; John Kevin (Ruth) of Riley, IN; and James Kelly.

Mary Helen grew up in Milford with seven siblings: Elizabeth, Ruth Eleanor, Margaret Lois, Paul E., Frances, James Phillip, and John Franklin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; son, James; and grandson, Greg. She is survived by two children, five grandchildren, (Kathryn, David, Holly, Matthew, and Allison) and four great-grandchildren (Mckenna, Ashlyn, Braden, and Grayson).

In her youth, Mary Helen was an avid tennis player and enjoyed following the game as an adult. After raising her family, she realized she had a talent as a writer and enjoyed creating poetry, which continued into her senior years. She also expressed herself with water colors in creating landscapes which were displayed at art shows.

Her final arrangements are being handled by the Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street, Terre Haute.
