Mary Ann Barrett

Mary Ann Barrett, a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passes away peacefully. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph University Parish and was known for her warm spirit, kind heart, and wonderful sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Denise Michelle Barrett; her husband, Dennis Barrett; her parents; and her brothers, Jack Layman and Gary Holland.

She is survived by her son, Brian Barrett and his wife, Dottie, of Terre Haute; their daughters, Danielle Hunt and her husband CJ of Terre Haute, and her child Bradan; Chassidy Barrett of Terre Haute; and Amber Sparks and her husband John of Terre Haute, and their children Abigail and Noah. Her daughter, Stephanie Barrett and her husband, Troy, of Indianapolis; her children, Corey (Father of Cole and spouse Stormy, parent of Cash Grigsby), Collins Grigsby of Costa Rica, with daughters, Mia and Italy Grigsby; Capone Grigsby of Terre Haute and spouse Kayla, father of Caiden and Corrinn; and Creta Stribling of Indianapolis and her husband Kenny.

Throughout her life, Mary Ann was proud of her Irish heritage and remained deeply involved in her church community.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in St. Joseph University Parish with Father Bob St. Martin officiating. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. – 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street.
