Marjorie Fay (Anderson) Sisson of Cory, Indiana passed peacefully into the arms of her Heavenly Father early Tuesday morning on November 25, 2025, surrounded by three generations of family in her home with her favorite hymns playing softly in the background. She was joyfully reunited in Heaven with her husband, Bill, whom she had dearly missed for five years.
Survivors include three children, Roseanne Waite (Gary) of Cory, IN, Susan Hacker (Tony) of Cloverdale, IN and William W. Sisson, Jr. of Terre Haute, IN; nine grandchildren, Sarah Reeves (Justin), Molly Warren (Ande), Benjamin Waite (Lauren), Kenny Waite (Ashley), Justin Hacker, Angela Cahill (Tyler), Ashley Sunkel (Rich), Amy Sisson, and William W. Sisson III; 20 great-grandchildren and eagerly awaiting the arrival of two additional great-grandchildren in early 2026; one great-great-granddaughter and several nephews and nieces, including her devoted niece, Lora Lee Ludwig, whose unwavering care, support, and loving companionship were a blessing to Marjorie throughout her life and especially in her later years. She was also deeply blessed by the extraordinary devotion of her granddaughter, Ashley Waite, whose constant presence, sacrificial care, and unwavering support were among Marjorie’s greatest comforts throughout her final year.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was also greeted in Heaven by her twin brother Kenneth Ray, brother William Harold, and sisters Doris Ruth and Esther Meredith.
Marjorie was born on September 12, 1931 to Kenneth E. and Lona B. Anderson. She was a graduate of Cory High School and met her future husband, Bill Sisson, while employed at Commercial Solvents in Terre Haute, IN. After a year of courtship, they married on October 11, 1952 at the minister’s home and eventually settled on an 84-acre farm in Cory, less than two miles from Marjorie’s childhood home. There they raised their three children in a white farmhouse on the hill and were grateful that family always gathered close around them, allowing them to witness two generations grow just beyond their back door.
As a faithful servant of Christ, Marjorie was a staple of the Cory Community. She and Bill were long-time members of Cory Zion Church, which her grandfather helped build. Over the years, thousands of people were blessed by the noodles she meticulously prepared for the annual Turkey Supper. While her husband, Bill, was the charismatic voice of the family, Marjorie was the quiet rock on which the family was anchored, living out her faith daily through kindness, humility, and a servant’s heart.
As much as she loved her rural tight-knit community, Marjorie’s greatest joy came through service to her family. She spent countless hours hosting her grandchildren with a warm meal and cooked an immeasurable amount of SpaghettiOs. She also found incredible joy in tending her many flower beds that surrounded her home, gardening with the same meticulous and thoughtful care she showed to her family. Her love for animals was another constant in her life, as she cared for countless pets throughout her life, from litters of barn kittens and her horses, Jerry and Tilly, to her beloved poodles, both sharing the name Puffy.
When the third generation came along, she became affectionately known as Grandma Cookie, a name she proudly embraced. Grandkids and great grandkids were always met at the door with a warm hug and their choice of cookie(s). Even as the family quickly grew, Marjorie made sure family traditions and gatherings remained a priority, specifically the Anderson Family Christmas Eve celebration which continues to this day. She leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion and a quiet strength, and a devoted family that is rejoicing that she has finally arrived home and greeted with “Well done, my good and faithful servant”.
Funeral services will be conducted at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street in Terre Haute and will be officiated by Rev. Patrick Shay, whom she lovingly referred to as “my pastor” during his countless visits during her final months. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 28th from 11am - 1pm with the service to follow at 1pm. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
