Marguerite "Peggy" Watson

Marguerite “Peggy” Watson passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, surrounded by her three sons, Darrell, Daniel and James.

Peggy was an avid sports fan, animal lover, music enthusiast, enjoyed time on the beach and an unapologetic fan of Hallmark Christmas movies. She enjoyed scenic drives and, most of all, time with her boys and grandbabies, who lovingly knew her as Grammy.

Peggy had a wonderful sense of humor and kept cracking jokes up until the end. Even during difficult days, she could find a reason to laugh and make those around her laugh—a pretty good summary of how Peggy approached life.

Animals always held a special place in her heart, particularly her beloved dog Sophie, who became her closest companion and partner in plenty of mischief.

Peggy worked for Columbia House until its closure and later retired as a bailiff with the Vigo County Clerk’s Office.

She is survived by her sons, Darrell, Daniel and James Watson; grandchildren, Rylee, Maya, Margo and Barrett Watson; several brothers and sisters; and a large extended family. Special thanks go to her sister Monica, Peggy’s caregiver, companion and longtime partner in crime, whose love and devotion meant more to Peggy and her boys than words can express.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Watson; parents, Marge and Tom Hogan; and nephew, Adam Hogan.

Peggy will be remembered for the music, sports, Christmas movies, animals, scenic drives, laughter and countless moments shared with the people she loved. Most of all, she will be remembered as Mom and Grammy.

Knowing Peggy, she would prefer everyone spend a less time being sad and a little more time remembering something she did that made them laugh.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society or Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
