Laura Lee Bright

November 20, 1944 — December 19, 2020

We are sad to announce the sudden death of Laura Lee Bright, 76.  She was born and raised by the late Lt. Col. Leroy Anderson, Margaret Anderson Von Ohlen and Step-Father Col. Bill Von Ohlen in Aurora, IL.

Laura was a lifelong Bridge player and achieved great honors including being a Life Master (the highest bridge ranking), Player of the Year, was a bridge teacher and Treasurer of the Terre Haute Bridge Center for many years.  She worked for Old National Bank and Cracker Barrel.

Laura is survived by her daughters, Carrie Welborn (Dr. Mell Burress Welborn, III) and Kristie Soder;  step-daughters, Susan Bright (Jeff Matthews) and Teresa Bright Knapp (Richard Knapp); step-sons, Stu Bright (Nancy Bright) and Greg Bright (Julie Bright); grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a loving wife to the late Dr. David R. Bright and was also preceded in death by her brother, Pleavan Leroy Anderson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM, Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Callahan and Hughes Funeral Home, 605 S. 25th Street South, with Reverend Ron Branson officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 PM, immediately preceding the service.  If friends should so desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
