Kay Lynne Trueblood

Kay Lynne Trueblood, 84, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, August 28, 2026, at The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care. She was born September 5, 1941, in Clinton to Raymond Otis Shannon and Helen Lucille King Shannon.

Kay shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Robert “Bob” Trueblood. Together they built a life filled with love, family, friendships, and countless memories. Through six decades of marriage, they shared the joys and challenges of life side by side, creating a home and family that would become Kay’s greatest treasures. Although Bob preceded her in death, the life they shared and the love they had for one another remained an important part of who Kay was.

Kay worked as a manager at Reuben H. Donnelley for over 35 years, where she built a long and fulfilling career and formed many lasting relationships.

For Kay, friendships were among the most important things in life. She treasured the friendships she made throughout the years and especially enjoyed traveling and camping with her friends. She loved the time spent together, the laughter, the conversations, and the memories they created along the way.

Kay also enjoyed many simple pleasures. Her hobbies included working puzzles, cross-stitching, and playing cards with friends. She found great joy in spending time with the people she loved and in making everyday moments into special memories.

Above all, Kay cherished her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was always eager to be there to support them. She could often be found in the audience at their music performances and plays, in the stands cheering them on at baseball games, or simply enjoying whatever they were involved in. She was their biggest cheerleader, always proud of them and always encouraging them to follow their dreams and do their best.

Some of her favorite moments were the simplest ones—watching television together, enjoying old musicals, going out for breakfast, shopping, or just being together. She didn't need a special occasion to enjoy time with her family. Being with them was enough.

Kay leaves behind not only a loving family, but also countless friends and loved ones whose lives were made richer by knowing her. Her greatest legacy will be the love she gave so freely, the friendships she treasured, and the memories she created with the people she loved most.

Survivors include her children, Tracy Yates (Bill), Daniel Trueblood (Michelle), and Paula Long (Mark); grandchildren, Kristin Fritz (Brian), Carissa Peperak (Joe), Dylan Trueblood (Janee’), Nick Long, Wesley Long (Autumn), and Alan Pershing; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Aubrie, Carter, Bryce, Miles, Jayce, Colsen, and Sawyer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Trueblood; her parents; brother, Vernie Shannon; sister, Connie Michael; and grandson, Jason Hines.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, August 31, 2026, at Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, 605 South 25th Street. Visitation will be prior to services from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Monday.
