John C. Adams, 62, passed away November 11, 2024. He was born June 27, 1962, in Terre Haute to Ronald W. and Barbara K. Adams. Survivors include Ramona Christen Adams, to whom he was married for more than17 years; mother, Barbara; brother Jeff; sisters Paula Metheny (Steve) and Carolyn Burns (Paul); nieces Megan, Mallory (Thomas), Lauren (Jerrod) and Alina; nephews Cory (Kyla), Matthew (Lauren), Mark (Gina) and Christopher (Kayla); and 10 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Growing up in Terre Haute, John attended Schulte High School and graduated from Terre Haute North High School. He was a 1985 graduate of Indiana State University and a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, where he met many of his lifelong friends. He worked for a variety of marketing and sports organizations in Indianapolis including the National Retail Hardware Association, The Indianapolis Star, Champ Car and Monster.com but his favorite role was the years he spent working for the Indianapolis Indians, both at Bush Stadium and Victory Field. He was most proud of the smiles he brought to the faces of children and adults alike as he portrayed the Indians’ first mascot, Rowdy the Bear.
A talented writer, John loved creating poems, short stories and songs, with his nieces and nephews being the biggest beneficiaries of his works. John was an enduring sports fan, and especially loved cheering for his beloved Chicago Cubs and attending many games at Wrigley Field. Music was also a big part of John's life, as an accomplished piano and guitar player, and he was a well-known aficionado of Lyle Lovett and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. Volunteering came easy for John as he was always willing to jump in and do his part to better the Indianapolis community.
