Irma Ann Speidel, 86, of Terre Haute and formerly of Michigan, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Harrison’s Crossing Health Campus, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 31, 1939, in Mendon, Michigan, to William and Lela (Bingaman) Richman. Irma married Thomas Daniel Speidel on August 20, 1960.
Irma is survived by her sons: Douglas Speidel (Karen) of San Jose, CA; and Bradley Speidel (Jann) of Terre Haute; grandchildren: James Speidel (Alex), Meghan Speidel-Grimes (Andrew), Kristina Speidel-Burch (Eli), Matthew Speidel (Hannah), Katie Speidel, and Jacqueline Speidel (Chandler Bluhm); and great-grandchildren: Alexandra Pierce, Adaline Speidel, Aiden Speidel, McLean Grimes, Zoë Burch, and Ava Speidel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years; brother, Calvin Richman (Patricia); and a sister, Lois Johnson.
After raising her boys, Irma returned to her passion as an educator. She dedicated over 15 years to teaching second grade elementary students. She used her skills and love of teaching to guide her children and grandchildren in their own lives. A strong woman of faith, Irma immersed herself in the United Methodist Church and their outreach missions. She and Tom traveled with the “Nomads” using their RV as a base of operations for volunteerism across the country. She also helped with Emmaus Walks and lifted up those in need with prayer. Irma’s faith shone brightly throughout her life, and she made the world a better place because of it. She enjoyed sewing teddy bears of all types, shapes, and sizes and was an outstanding cook. Most importantly, Irma has left a legacy of prioritizing faith and family to three generations.
Private services are scheduled. Per her wishes, cremation was chosen.
