Frank Earl Acker, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Westminster Village, with family by his side. He was born on March 11, 1937, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Frank C. and Ruth A. Acker.

Frank is survived by his wife, Ruth Coleman Acker of Terre Haute and a son, Alan Acker of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Frank earned his Doctorate from Carnegie Mellon University. He worked for US Steel, designing equipment for mines in West Virginia. He also worked for the Naval Research Lab detecting objects underwater. Frank was a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Rose Hulman and retired after 18 years of service. He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church and served as the church organist for many years. Frank enjoyed mountain climbing and cave exploring in his younger days.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 645 Poplar Street, Terre Haute. Visitation will be held an hour prior at the church. Frank will be laid to rest privately in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
