Bruce T. Waskeiveiz

Bruce Waskeiveiz, 88, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at his home. He was born on October 24, 1937, in Terre Haute, to Joseph John and Helen Josephine (Siler) Waskeiveiz.

Bruce is survived by his sister, Frances Bailey of Terre Haute; nieces and nephews: Dusty Derickson, Gregory Derickson, Betsy Kile, Daniel Ketner, Brett Bailey, Marty Ketner, and Lisa Dove; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Derickson; and a nephew, Michael Ketner.

Bruce worked as a data processing manager for the City of Terre Haute and Vigo County, retiring in 1995. He was a lifelong member of St. Benedict Catholic Church and played the organ for many years. Bruce was a well known organist in the community and his musical talent brought joy to many over the years. His passion for the organ led him to be able to tune and repair the instruments and he was called to fix organs all over the Wabash Valley and even in Indianapolis. Bruce loved St. Benedict and was the church historian, instituting and maintaining the church archives. He donated his time and resources to the church regularly and was working on restoring the C-Sharp bell. Bruce loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was a meticulous record keeper and enjoyed genealogy, sharing his knowledge with the rest of his family. Bruce also had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. He provided care for strays his whole life.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:05 p.m. on Monday, at the church. Bruce will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society or to any animal charity of the donor’s choice.
